What is PBFantasy?

Philippine Basketball Fantasy (PBFantasy) is a FREE Web-based NBA Salary-Cap Basketball Fantasy game. In this game, you are the general manager (GM) of your basketball team and you are given $50,000,000 (PBFantasy cash) to acquire eight (8) NBA players, namely 2 guards, 2 forwards, 1 center and 3 bench (any position) players. The players you have selected will be earning fantasy points for your team based on their performance in the actual NBA games.

The objective of the game can be one of the following: (1) to earn the highest fantasy points, or (2) to have the highest total value (roster value + remaining cash).

Earning fantasy points is largely based on how well you choose your roster of players. You may, at any point in the game, sell your current players in exchange for better ones. This privilege, also known as trade, however, is limited and so must be used wisely.

Eligibility to Play

PBFantasy is open to anybody who wants to play but is subject to the Terms of Service set by the website.

Creating A New Team

If you are not yet a registered member of PBFantasy, creating a new account is easy and absolutely FREE! Simply go to the registration page by clicking the JOIN NOW! button. Complete the form with the required information. Upon submitting the completed form, an activation link will be sent to the e-mail address you have provided. Be sure to activate your account first in order for you to log in.

If you are already a member of PBFantasy, please sign in through the login page.

Once you have logged in to your account, click the CREATE TEAM in the navigation bar. Enter a team name when prompted. Upon submitting the team name, you will be asked to choose which league to join into.

You can create more than one team for yourself. You may do this to compete against different leagues or simply to try different strategies. To create another team, click on the CREATE TEAM in the navigation bar and follow the same steps in creating a new team. A member is limited to having a maximum of five (5) teams under his account.

Leagues

Each newly created team is required to join a league. You can join a random league, join an existing league, or create a new league.

  1. Join Random League - This option allows you to join a random league. You will be randomly placed in a league along with other managers like you.

  2. Join Existing League - This option allows you to join an open league or your friend's league. Search the league name and, if required, enter the league's password.

  3. Create New League - This option allows you to create and name your own league. You can also supply a password to it for exclusivity. If you do not supply a password, it will be open to all the other members.

Once you have created or joined a league, you can no longer switch to another league.

Each league can have a maximum of twenty (20) teams.

Duration of the Game

There will be two (2) PBFantasy rounds for this NBA season. At the start of every PBFantasy round, members need to create new teams and create or join a new league. All teams and leagues from the previous round will not be carried over to the succeeding round.

  • Round I - 1st Half of the NBA Season (start of regular NBA season until the start of NBA All-star weekend)

  • Round II - 2nd Half of the NBA Season (after NBA All-Star weekend until the end of regular NBA season)

  • Round III - NBA Playoffs

Initial Cash

You will have $50,000,000 (fantasy cash) to spend on your 8-man basketball team.

Drafting Your Team

To draft your players, go to Buy Players in the navigation bar. You can filter and sort by different statistics to choose your players. If you have already decided to buy a player, click the position G (Guard), F (Forward), C (Center), or B (Bench) according to the position you would like your chosen player to play. Take note that you cannot have duplicate players on your team. Everytime you buy a player, you need to re-set all your roster for the next days.

Please ensure that your team roster, all eight (8) positions, are filled up in order to score fantasy points.

Team Management

There are two ways to win the game. The first is to create a team that will earn you the most fantasy points. The second is to make your team have the highest value. This means that your team's total value, which is your team's total roster value plus your remaining cash, is the highest among all teams.

Creating a good strategy in selecting players is both challenging and exciting. The key to having a great team is being able to pick the right player at the right time. You should always keep an eye on your players - know who is injured and unproductive, who has lighter schedules and who the team is up against. These are just some of the factors that affect your fantasy point earnings.

Another tip is to also keep tab on which players are on the rise. These are the inexpensive players and yet they perform better than some of the expensive ones. Buying these kinds of players would most likely give you instant profit. It may also help you increase your team's total value. You may refer to the Finance Sheet page to see who among your players are reaping profits or stacking losses.

Trading a Player in Your Roster

One (1) trade is given to each team on Wednesdays and Sundays at 12AM PHT (Philippine Time). Unused trades are accumulated until the end of each PBFantasy round. You use one (1) trade for every player you sell. Once you have used up all your remaining trades, you can no longer sell players in your roster. Buying a player does not require trades.

If you want to sell a player in your roster, go to the Change Roster page. Click the SELL link beside the player's name to sell that player. You will be prompted with a confirmation message. Once you have sold that player, you can now buy a player by going to the Buy Player page. Here, you can search for a player based on several criteria. If you have already decided which player to buy, click on the position (G, F, C, or B) where you want him to be placed in your roster. Make sure that the position in your roster is available for that player as indicated by the No. of Players to Buy and Vacant Position at the Buy Player page.

Before you buy or sell players, please make sure that you have enough money to buy a complete roster (8 players). Your team will NOT score any fantasy points if you have an incomplete roster. So remember, plan, compute and trade wisely.

Trade History

If you want to see information about your team's previous trades, you can proceed to the Trade History page. Here you can see the date when you bought or sold a player and the player's price.

Player Substitution

You can substitute players by clicking the dropdown boxes in the Team Roster table and choosing the new position you would like for your players. Please be reminded that only the fantasy points produced by the starting five - two (2) guards, two (2) forwards and one (1) center, are the ones added to your team's fantasy points for the day. This means that you need to regularly substitute players from the bench to the starting positions to maximize your team. For example, you should substitute a guard who is injured, has no game the following day, or is just being unproductive to one of the bench players who you think may be more productive.

Player substitution can be done as often as you want and at any time before the roster deadline which is at 12AM PHT (Philippine Time).

Setting Your Roster In Advance

On the Change Roster page, you can set your roster for the next 3 days. Just click the dates on the roster table to select which date you want to set your roster. Once you have selected the date, you can proceed with the substitution.

Just a reminder, everytime you buy or sell a player, the lineups you have set in advanced will be reset. You have to re-set your roster lineup for the succeeding days.

Roster Deadline

The roster deadline is set at 12AM PHT (Philippine Time). Trades or player substitutions should be done before the deadline. Your team should already be set before the roster deadline in order for it to be eligible for the upcoming games. Any roster changes (trades or substitution) done after the deadline will only reflect on the next game date.

If the changes to your roster did not meet the roster deadline, you will not be able to see your changes in the Today's Result page after 12AM PHT (Philippine Time).

Fantasy Points

The fantasy points of your players are computed everyday at 4PM PHT (Philippine Time) using the following formula:

For EveryEquivalent
Point+1.0
Rebound+2.0
Assist+2.0
Steal+2.5
Block+2.5
FG Missed-0.5

Only your starting players' fantasy points would be added to your team's total fantasy points. Bench players' fantasy points are NOT added to your team's total fantasy points.

Previous fantasy points of your players (when they were still not yet on your team) would NOT be added to your team's total fantasy points.

Ranking

All rankings are updated everyday at 4PM PHT (Philippine Time).

PBFantasy ranking is divided into four parts:
  • PBF Rank by Fantasy Points

  • PBF Rank by Value

  • League Rank by Fantasy Points

  • League Rank by Value

PBF ranking refers to your current overall rank among the other teams in PBFantasy.

League ranking refers to your current league rank among the other teams in your league only.

Ranking by fantasy points shows the rank of your team based on your team's total fantasy points. The one who has the highest total fantasy points is ranked number 1.

Ranking by value shows the rank of your team based on your team's total roster value. The one who has the highest total roster value is ranked number 1.

To see the top 50 teams that made it in the PBFantasy overall ranking, go to Team Standings.

To see only the teams in your league and their league rankings, go to League Standings.

Players' Prices

The price of every player is based on a demand-driven market and his productivity. The price changes are determined by all the PBFantasy teams' demand for the players. A player's price will increase if there is a significant increase in demand for him. On the other hand, a player's price will decrease if there is significant decrease in demand for him. The price increase (or decrease) will based on how high (or low) the demand is.

To see the price value changes for the day, go to the Top Gainers/Losers page.

Players' prices are updated everyday at 12AM PHT (Philippine Time).

Schedule

The leftmost column indicates the team name, and the top row indicates the game dates.

Colored boxes in the game schedules allow you to easily pinpoint the teams that have few or many games. The following are the possible colors of each box and their corresponding meaning:

Red The team has a poor schedule. (0 or 1 game in the next 4 days)
White The team has a normal schedule.
Green The team has a good schedule. (5 or more games in the next 7 days, or 4 games in the next 5 days)

Boxes that contain words in it indicate that the team has a game during that day and will be playing against the team name written inside that box. An "@" symbol inside the box indicates that the team name inside that box is the home team; while a box that has only the team name means it is the visiting team.

The game dates are in PHT (Philippine Time).

Game schedules can be viewed by going to the Schedule page.
